A-Fenac K Tablet 50 mg contains Diclofenac Potassium, a fast-acting nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) widely used for the management of acute pain and inflammatory conditions. Compared to diclofenac sodium, the potassium salt is absorbed more rapidly, providing quicker onset of analgesic action. This makes A-Fenac K particularly suitable for conditions where prompt pain relief is required.

Nonsteroidal Anti-inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs)
Diclofenac Potassium works by inhibiting cyclooxygenase enzymes (COX-1 and COX-2), which are responsible for the formation of prostaglandins. Prostaglandins play a central role in the development of pain, inflammation, and fever. By suppressing prostaglandin synthesis, diclofenac effectively reduces these symptoms.
After oral administration, diclofenac potassium is rapidly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract, leading to faster peak plasma concentrations compared to diclofenac sodium. The drug is highly bound to plasma proteins and undergoes extensive hepatic metabolism. Its metabolites are excreted primarily via the kidneys, with a small amount eliminated through bile. The relatively short plasma half-life supports flexible dosing for acute pain management.
A-Fenac K Tablet provides analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and antipyretic effects by blocking prostaglandin production at the site of tissue injury. This results in rapid relief of pain, reduction of swelling, and improvement in functional mobility.
Adults: 50 mg up to two or three times daily, depending on severity of symptoms
Adolescents: Dosage should be adjusted based on body weight and clinical condition
Tablets should be taken with or after food to reduce gastrointestinal discomfort. The lowest effective dose should be used for the shortest duration necessary.
Diclofenac may interact with other NSAIDs, corticosteroids, anticoagulants, antiplatelet agents, antihypertensive drugs, diuretics, lithium, and methotrexate. Such interactions may increase the risk of gastrointestinal bleeding, renal impairment, or reduced antihypertensive efficacy.
A-Fenac K Tablet 50 mg is contraindicated in patients with:
Hypersensitivity to diclofenac or other NSAIDs
History of NSAID-induced asthma, urticaria, or allergic reactions
Active or recurrent peptic ulcer disease
Severe hepatic, renal, or cardiac impairment
Possible side effects include:
Gastrointestinal discomfort, nausea, or dyspepsia
Headache or dizziness
Skin rash
Serious adverse effects such as gastrointestinal bleeding or cardiovascular events are rare when used at recommended doses for short periods.
