Indications

Alercon Eye Drop 0.10% is indicated for the relief and management of signs and symptoms associated with:

• Allergic conjunctivitis

• Eye itching and irritation due to allergens

• Redness and watering of the eyes

• Seasonal and perennial ocular allergies

It helps improve eye comfort and reduces allergy-related discomfort.

Pharmacology

Olopatadine Hydrochloride is a dual-acting antiallergic agent. It works by selectively blocking histamine H1 receptors and stabilizing mast cells, thereby preventing the release of inflammatory mediators such as histamine. This dual mechanism provides both immediate and sustained relief from allergic symptoms. Olopatadine has minimal systemic absorption when used as an eye drop, reducing the risk of systemic side effects.

Dosage and Administration

Alercon Eye Drop is for ophthalmic use only.

• The usual recommended dose is one drop in the affected eye(s) twice daily or as directed by a physician

• Wash hands before application

• Avoid touching the dropper tip to any surface to prevent contamination

• If using other eye medications, allow at least 5–10 minutes between applications

Contact lenses should be removed before instillation and may be reinserted after at least 15 minutes.

Drug Interactions

No clinically significant drug interactions have been reported with topical Olopatadine. However, caution is advised when used concurrently with other ophthalmic medications.

Contraindications

Alercon Eye Drop 0.10% is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Olopatadine Hydrochloride or any component of the formulation.

Side Effects

Alercon Eye Drop should be used during pregnancy only if clearly needed and prescribed by a healthcare professional. Caution is advised during breastfeeding, as it is not known whether Olopatadine is excreted in human milk.
