Phyllanthus emblica (Amalaki):
Active constituents: Phyllantidine, tannins, phyllenbic acid, gallic acid, ellagic acid, and high levels of Vitamin C
Actions: Antacid, stomachic, carminative, antioxidant
Uses: Hyperacidity, anorexia, dyspepsia, jaundice, flatulence, and gastrointestinal disorders
Piper longum (Pippali):
Active constituents: Piperine, piplartine, piperlonguminine, sesamine, volatile oils
Actions: Digestive, carminative, nervine tonic, muscle strengthener
Uses: Anaemia, colic, ascites, haemorrhoids, and splenic disorders
Adults: 2–4 teaspoonfuls, 2–3 times daily after meals
Children: 1–2 teaspoonfuls, 2–3 times daily after meals
