Azithrocin Injection 500 mg/vial is a sterile injectable formulation containing Azithromycin Dihydrate, a broad-spectrum macrolide antibiotic used for the treatment of moderate to severe bacterial infections when oral therapy is not suitable or effective. This injectable form is especially valuable in hospitalized patients who require rapid and reliable antimicrobial action or are unable to take medications by mouth.
Azithromycin is known for its extensive tissue distribution, prolonged half-life, and strong intracellular penetration, which allow sustained antibacterial activity even after dosing is completed. Azithrocin Injection provides effective systemic coverage against a wide range of susceptible pathogens, making it a trusted option in serious infections requiring parenteral therapy.

Azithrocin Injection 500 mg/vial is indicated for the treatment of infections caused by susceptible organisms, including:
Community-acquired pneumonia
Lower respiratory tract infections
Severe upper respiratory tract infections
Skin and soft tissue infections
Pelvic inflammatory disease caused by susceptible organisms
Other serious systemic infections as determined by the physician
It may be used as initial intravenous therapy followed by oral azithromycin once the patient’s condition improves, ensuring continuity of treatment.
Azithromycin belongs to the azalide subclass of macrolide antibiotics. It works by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit of susceptible bacteria, thereby inhibiting protein synthesis and preventing bacterial growth. Its action is primarily bacteriostatic, though it may be bactericidal against certain organisms at higher concentrations.
Azithrocin Injection shows activity against a wide range of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria as well as atypical pathogens, including Streptococcus pneumoniae, Staphylococcus aureus, Haemophilus influenzae, Moraxella catarrhalis, Mycoplasma pneumoniae, Chlamydia trachomatis, Legionella pneumophila, and Neisseria gonorrhoeae. High tissue concentrations contribute to its effectiveness in deep-seated and intracellular infections.
Adults:
The usual recommended dose is 500 mg once daily, administered by intravenous infusion over a period of not less than one hour. Duration of therapy depends on the type and severity of infection and clinical response. Switching to oral azithromycin is recommended when appropriate.
Azithrocin Injection must be reconstituted and diluted according to standard aseptic procedures and administered under the supervision of a healthcare professional.
Caution is advised when Azithrocin Injection is administered with drugs such as digoxin or cyclosporine, as azithromycin may increase their serum concentrations. Concomitant use with ergot derivatives is contraindicated due to the risk of ergotism. Antacids do not affect intravenous azithromycin but may interfere with oral follow-up therapy.
Azithrocin Injection 500 mg/vial is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to azithromycin, erythromycin, or other macrolide antibiotics. It should be used with caution in patients with hepatic impairment.
Azithrocin Injection is generally well tolerated. Possible side effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, headache, dizziness, and injection site reactions such as pain or inflammation. Rarely, allergic reactions, liver enzyme elevations, or cardiac rhythm disturbances may occur.
