Ben-A Suspension 200 mg/5 ml contains Albendazole, a broad-spectrum anthelmintic (anti-worm) medication used for the treatment of various intestinal and tissue parasitic worm infections. This suspension formulation is especially suitable for children and patients who have difficulty swallowing tablets, ensuring accurate dosing and better compliance.
Albendazole works by inhibiting the uptake of glucose by susceptible parasites. This leads to depletion of their energy stores, immobilization, and eventual death of the worms. The dead parasites are then naturally eliminated from the body through the intestinal tract. Due to its wide range of activity, Ben-A Suspension is commonly prescribed in both single-dose and short-course regimens depending on the type of infection.

Ben-A Suspension is indicated for the treatment of infections caused by:
Roundworm (Ascariasis)
Hookworm (Ancylostomiasis, Necatoriasis)
Threadworm (Enterobiasis / Pinworm)
Whipworm (Trichuriasis)
Strongyloidiasis
Taeniasis (Tapeworm infection)
Neurocysticercosis and Hydatid disease (under specialist supervision)
Anthelmintic / Antiparasitic agent
Albendazole is poorly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract; however, its absorption increases significantly when taken with fatty food. After absorption, it is rapidly converted in the liver to albendazole sulfoxide, the active metabolite responsible for its systemic anti-parasitic effects. This metabolite selectively damages parasite cells by disrupting microtubule formation, impairing essential cellular processes.
The dosage depends on the patient’s age, body weight, and type of parasitic infection.
Ben-A Suspension is usually administered as a single dose or for a short duration as prescribed by a physician.
Shake the bottle well before use.
It is recommended to take the suspension with food for better absorption.
Always follow the doctor’s instructions regarding dose and duration. Do not exceed the prescribed amount.
Ben-A Suspension is widely used in pediatric patients due to its palatable liquid form and ease of administration. Dose adjustment may be required based on age and weight.
Ben-A Suspension is generally well tolerated. Some patients may experience:
Nausea or vomiting
Abdominal pain
Diarrhea
Headache or dizziness
Rarely, allergic reactions or changes in liver enzymes may occur, especially during prolonged therapy.
