Darbesis Injection 60 mcg/0.3 ml contains Darbepoetin Alfa, a long-acting erythropoiesis-stimulating agent (ESA) used for the treatment of anemia, particularly in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) and those undergoing chemotherapy. It works by stimulating red blood cell production in the bone marrow, thereby increasing hemoglobin levels and reducing the need for blood transfusions.
This formulation offers extended dosing intervals compared to conventional erythropoietin, making it convenient for patients requiring long-term therapy.

Composition
Each prefilled syringe contains:
-
Darbepoetin Alfa 60 mcg in 0.3 ml
Mechanism of Action
Darbepoetin Alfa is a recombinant form of human erythropoietin with a longer half-life. It binds to erythropoietin receptors on erythroid progenitor cells in the bone marrow, stimulating their proliferation and differentiation into mature red blood cells. This leads to increased red blood cell count and improved oxygen-carrying capacity of the blood.
Indications
Darbesis Injection 60 mcg/0.3 ml is indicated for:
-
Anemia associated with chronic kidney disease (CKD) in adults and pediatric patients
-
Anemia in patients receiving chemotherapy for non-myeloid malignancies
-
Reduction in the need for red blood cell transfusions
-
Management of anemia due to reduced endogenous erythropoietin production
Dosage and Administration
-
Administered by subcutaneous (SC) or intravenous (IV) injection under medical supervision
-
Dosage is individualized based on body weight, hemoglobin level, and patient response
-
Typically administered once weekly or once every two weeks
-
Hemoglobin levels should be monitored regularly
-
Dose adjustments are required to maintain target hemoglobin levels
Contraindications
Darbesis Injection should not be used in:
-
Known hypersensitivity to Darbepoetin Alfa or erythropoietin products
