Dirozyl Injection 500 mg/100 ml contains Metronidazole, a potent nitroimidazole antibiotic with broad-spectrum activity against anaerobic bacteria and certain protozoa. This intravenous formulation is designed for parenteral administration, making it suitable for patients who cannot take oral medications or require rapid systemic treatment. Dirozyl Injection is commonly used in hospital and clinical settings for severe infections, complicated bacterial conditions, and protozoal diseases.
Metronidazole works by disrupting DNA synthesis in susceptible microorganisms, leading to cell death. It is particularly effective against Bacteroides species, Clostridium species, and Trichomonas vaginalis, among others. This makes it an essential therapeutic option for managing serious anaerobic infections, intra-abdominal infections, gynecological infections, and protozoal diseases.

Metronidazole: 500 mg per 100 ml
Dirozyl Injection 500 mg/100 ml is indicated for:
Anaerobic bacterial infections, including intra-abdominal infections
Bacterial vaginosis and gynecological infections
Trichomoniasis and other protozoal infections
Severe skin and soft tissue infections
Septicemia caused by susceptible anaerobes
Adjunct therapy for surgical prophylaxis in high-risk patients
Treatment of complicated infections in patients unable to take oral therapy
Metronidazole exerts its antimicrobial effect by penetrating bacterial and protozoal cells and interacting with their DNA. Once inside the cell, it undergoes reduction of its nitro group, producing reactive intermediates that bind to DNA and inhibit nucleic acid synthesis. This process results in the destruction of the microorganism, making Metronidazole bactericidal against anaerobic bacteria and protozoa. Its selective activity against anaerobes and certain protozoa ensures minimal impact on normal aerobic flora.
Route: Intravenous infusion
Dosage: As prescribed by a registered physician
The dose depends on the type, severity, and location of infection, as well as patient age, weight, and renal/hepatic function. Dirozyl Injection should be administered slowly via IV infusion over 30–60 minutes, under close medical supervision to ensure safety and effectiveness.
