Composition

Each 100 ml infusion contains:

• Fluconazole 200 mg

This sterile intravenous solution is ready for infusion under medical supervision.

Indications

F-Zol Injection is indicated for the treatment of:

• Systemic candidiasis (including candidemia)
• Oropharyngeal and esophageal candidiasis
• Cryptococcal meningitis
• Fungal urinary tract infections
• Prevention of fungal infections in immunocompromised patients
• Hospital-acquired fungal infections

It is used based on clinical diagnosis and susceptibility of fungal organisms.

Pharmacological Action

Fluconazole is a triazole antifungal that works by:

• Inhibiting fungal cytochrome P450 enzyme (14-α-demethylase)
• Blocking synthesis of ergosterol, an essential component of fungal cell membranes
• Disrupting fungal cell membrane integrity
• Leading to inhibition of fungal growth and replication

It has good tissue penetration, including cerebrospinal fluid.

Dosage & Administration

• Administered by intravenous infusion only
• Dosage depends on type and severity of infection
• Must be infused slowly as per clinical guidelines
• Transition to oral therapy may be done when appropriate
• Only to be administered under medical supervision

Do not self-administer.

Side Effects

Use in Pregnancy & Lactation
