Fixocard Tablet 5 mg + 25 mg is a fixed-dose combination antihypertensive medication containing Amlodipine Besilate (5 mg) and Atenolol (25 mg). This combination is specifically formulated to provide effective control of high blood pressure (hypertension) and to reduce cardiovascular risk by targeting blood pressure through two complementary mechanisms. Fixocard is suitable for patients who require combination therapy when single-drug treatment is insufficient to achieve optimal blood pressure control.
Amlodipine is a long-acting calcium channel blocker, while Atenolol is a cardioselective beta-1 adrenergic receptor blocker. Together, they work synergistically to lower blood pressure, reduce cardiac workload, and improve overall cardiovascular outcomes. Fixocard Tablet is generally well tolerated and is intended for long-term management of hypertension and related cardiovascular conditions under medical supervision.

Fixocard Tablet 5 mg + 25 mg is indicated for:
Management of essential hypertension
Treatment of hypertension associated with stable angina pectoris
Reduction of cardiovascular risk in patients requiring combination antihypertensive therapy
Patients inadequately controlled with monotherapy of either a calcium channel blocker or a beta-blocker
Combination of:
Calcium Channel Blocker
Beta-Adrenergic Blocker
Amlodipine Besilate inhibits the influx of calcium ions into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle. This leads to peripheral arterial vasodilation, resulting in reduced systemic vascular resistance and lowered blood pressure. Its gradual onset and long duration of action help maintain stable blood pressure control over 24 hours.
Atenolol selectively blocks beta-1 adrenergic receptors in the heart, reducing heart rate, myocardial contractility, and cardiac output. This action decreases myocardial oxygen demand and contributes to blood pressure reduction without significant effects on beta-2 receptors in the lungs at therapeutic doses.
The combination provides additive antihypertensive effects while minimizing dose-related side effects of individual agents.
The usual recommended dose is one tablet once daily, or as directed by the registered physician.
Fixocard Tablet may be taken with or without food.
The tablet should be swallowed whole with water at the same time each day to maintain consistent blood levels.
Dosage adjustments should be made based on patient response and tolerability.
Fixocard Tablet should be used with caution when taken with:
Other antihypertensive agents, due to additive blood pressure-lowering effects
Antiarrhythmic drugs, digoxin, or calcium channel blockers affecting cardiac conduction
Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, which may reduce antihypertensive efficacy
Antidiabetic medications, as beta-blockers may mask symptoms of hypoglycemia
Fixocard Tablet is contraindicated in patients with:
Known hypersensitivity to amlodipine, atenolol, or any excipients
Severe bradycardia, heart block greater than first degree, or cardiogenic shock
Uncontrolled heart failure
Severe hypotension
Common side effects may include:
Dizziness, headache, or fatigue
Peripheral edema, flushing, or palpitations
Bradycardia and cold extremities
Less common effects include gastrointestinal disturbances, sleep disturbances, and mood changes. Most side effects are mild and transient with continued use.
Fixocard Tablet should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the possible risk to the fetus. Caution is advised during breastfeeding, as atenolol is excreted in breast milk. Use only under medical supervision.
Use with caution in patients with diabetes, renal impairment, or peripheral vascular disease
Beta-blockers should not be withdrawn abruptly, as this may worsen angina or hypertension
Regular monitoring of blood pressure and heart rate is recommended
Store below 30°C in a dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of the reach of children.
