Mecobalamin is an active coenzyme form of Vitamin B12 that participates directly in methylation reactions essential for nervous system function. It helps in the regeneration of myelin, a protective sheath around nerves, and supports the synthesis of nucleic acids and proteins necessary for red blood cell formation. Unlike cyanocobalamin, mecobalamin is readily utilized by nerve tissues, making it particularly effective in treating neuropathies.
