Candidal Infections

• Vaginal candidiasis, including acute and recurrent episodes

• Candidal balanitis; treatment of symptomatic sexual partners should be considered

• Mucosal candidiasis, including:

  • Oropharyngeal candidiasis

  • Oesophageal candidiasis

  • Non-invasive bronchopulmonary candidiasis

  • Candiduria

  • Mucocutaneous candidiasis

  • Chronic oral atrophic candidiasis (denture-associated stomatitis)

Dermatophytic and Superficial Fungal Infections

• Tinea pedis

• Tinea cruris

• Tinea corporis

• Tinea versicolor

• Dermal candidial infections

• Nail fungal infections (onychomycosis)

Systemic and Invasive Fungal Infections

• Systemic candidiasis, including candidaemia and disseminated candidiasis

• Invasive candidal infections involving the peritoneum, endocardium, lungs, and urinary tract

• Fungal urinary tract infections

• Disseminated candidiasis

• Cryptococcal meningitis

• Cryptococcal infections of pulmonary and cutaneous sites

• Maintenance therapy to prevent relapse of cryptococcal disease in patients with AIDS

Use in Immunocompromised Patients

• Treatment of candidal infections in patients with:

  • Malignancy

  • Intensive care unit admission

  • Cytotoxic chemotherapy

  • Immunosuppressive therapy

  • Organ transplantation

• Prophylaxis of fungal infections in patients with neutropenia following chemotherapy, radiotherapy, or bone marrow transplantation

Other Indications

• Prophylaxis of fungal infections in neutropenic cancer patients

• Acute treatment of systemic fungal infections, such as:

  • Histoplasmosis

  • Coccidioidomycosis
