Pedeamin 100 ml is an oral liquid formulation containing Diphenhydramine Hydrochloride, a first-generation sedating antihistamine. It is widely used for the symptomatic treatment of various allergic and hypersensitivity conditions. Due to its antihistaminic, anticholinergic, and sedative properties, Pedeamin is also useful in managing motion sickness, nausea, and certain neurological conditions.

Pedeamin 100 ml is indicated for the treatment and management of the following conditions:
Seasonal, perennial, and vasomotor rhinitis
Urticaria (hives) and other allergic skin conditions
Angioneurotic oedema and anaphylactic reactions (as adjunct therapy)
Pruritic conditions of allergic origin
Premedication for prevention of emesis and motion sickness
Miscellaneous conditions such as Meniere’s disease and parkinsonism
Sedating Antihistamine
Diphenhydramine is an H1-receptor antagonist with significant anticholinergic and sedative effects. It works by competitively inhibiting histamine at H1-receptor sites on effector cells in the gastrointestinal tract, blood vessels, and respiratory tract. By blocking histamine-mediated responses, it reduces symptoms such as itching, sneezing, rhinorrhea, and swelling associated with allergic reactions. Its central nervous system depressant action contributes to its sedative and antiemetic effects.
Adults:
For most allergic conditions: 25–50 mg three times daily, with an additional 50 mg at night if required
Children:
1 to 5 years: 5 mg (2.5 ml of elixir) four times daily
Above 6 years: 10 mg (5 ml of elixir) four times daily
Dosage should be adjusted according to patient response and under medical supervision.
Diphenhydramine may reduce the gastrointestinal absorption of para-aminosalicylic acid (PAS)
Concomitant use with CNS depressants (such as sedatives, alcohol, or tranquilizers) may enhance sedative effects
Anticholinergic drugs may potentiate anticholinergic adverse reactions
Known hypersensitivity to Diphenhydramine or any component of the formulation
Ammonium chloride-containing formulations are contraindicated in patients with impaired hepatic or renal function
Common side effects may include:
Sedation and drowsiness
Dizziness and fatigue
Tinnitus
Ataxia
Blurred vision or diplopia
Euphoria
Epigastric discomfort
Pregnancy Category B:
There are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. Pedeamin 100 ml should be used during pregnancy only if clearly needed. Diphenhydramine is excreted in breast milk; therefore, its use is not recommended in lactating mothers.
Caution is advised in patients where drowsiness may be hazardous, such as drivers and machine operators. Alcohol and other CNS depressants should be avoided as they may potentiate sedation.
Symptoms: Impaired consciousness, psychosis, seizures, antimuscarinic effects (mydriasis, tachycardia, tachyarrhythmias), respiratory failure, rhabdomyolysis, and acute delirium with hallucinations.
Management: Supportive and symptomatic treatment. Severe CNS stimulation or convulsions may be managed with intravenous diazepam.
Store between 15°C and 30°C. Protect from moisture and keep out of reach of children.
