Indications

Progut Tablet is indicated for:

• Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)
• Erosive esophagitis
• Peptic ulcer disease (gastric and duodenal ulcers)
• Zollinger-Ellison syndrome
• Dyspepsia associated with acid overproduction
• Prevention of NSAID-induced gastric ulcers (as prescribed)

Mechanism of Action

Esomeprazole is the S-isomer of omeprazole and works by irreversibly inhibiting the hydrogen-potassium ATPase enzyme (proton pump) in gastric parietal cells. This blocks the final step of acid production, leading to a sustained reduction in gastric acid secretion and allowing healing of acid-damaged gastrointestinal tissues.

Dosage and Administration
