Ribox 90 mg Tablet is a selective cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) inhibitor belonging to the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) class. It is specifically formulated to provide effective relief from pain and inflammation while minimizing gastrointestinal side effects commonly associated with non-selective NSAIDs. Ribox 90 mg is suitable for managing chronic inflammatory conditions such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, and acute episodes of gouty arthritis, as well as short-term moderate pain following dental surgery.

Ribox 90 mg is indicated for:
Symptomatic relief in Osteoarthritis (OA)
Management of Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA)
Treatment of Ankylosing Spondylitis
Relief of pain and inflammation in acute gouty arthritis
Short-term management of moderate pain following dental surgery
Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) – COX-2 selective
Ribox 90 mg works by selectively inhibiting COX-2, the enzyme responsible for producing prostaglandins that mediate pain, inflammation, and fever. Unlike non-selective NSAIDs, it minimally affects COX-1, which maintains gastric mucosa and platelet function. This selective inhibition allows Ribox 90 mg to:
Reduce inflammation and swelling in joints and tissues
Relieve pain associated with arthritis, gout, and postoperative conditions
Minimize gastrointestinal toxicity and the risk of bleeding compared to traditional NSAIDs
Adults and adolescents over 16 years:
Osteoarthritis: 30–60 mg once daily
Rheumatoid Arthritis: 90 mg once daily
Ankylosing Spondylitis: 90 mg once daily
Acute Gouty Arthritis: 120 mg once daily for up to 8 days
Postoperative dental pain: 90 mg once daily, limited to 3 days
Administration Guidelines:
Take with or without food.
Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration to reduce cardiovascular and gastrointestinal risks.
Regularly re-evaluate patient response and symptom control.
Oral anticoagulants (warfarin): May increase prothrombin time.
ACE inhibitors, angiotensin II antagonists, diuretics: NSAIDs may reduce antihypertensive efficacy.
Lithium: Risk of increased plasma levels.
Cyclosporin or tacrolimus: May increase nephrotoxicity.
Can be used with low-dose aspirin for cardiovascular protection.
Hypersensitivity to Ribox or other NSAIDs
Active peptic ulcer or gastrointestinal bleeding
Severe hepatic or renal impairment
Congestive heart failure, uncontrolled hypertension, ischemic heart disease
Children under 16 years
Pregnancy and lactation
Common side effects include:
Fatigue, palpitations, influenza-like symptoms
Gastrointestinal disturbances: dyspepsia, nausea
Rare: atrial fibrillation, chest pain, flushing, electrolyte disturbances, confusion, hallucinations
Monitor renal and hepatic function during prolonged therapy
Caution in patients at high gastrointestinal or cardiovascular risk
Discontinue immediately if rash, mucosal lesions, or hypersensitivity occurs
May mask fever and other signs of inflammation
Avoid during pregnancy, especially in late stages, due to risk of premature ductus arteriosus closure
Not recommended during breastfeeding as excretion in human milk is unknown
Store below 30°C in a dry, dark place, away from moisture and out of reach of children.
Ribox 90 mg selectively inhibits COX-2, reducing prostaglandin synthesis responsible for pain, inflammation, and fever. Minimal COX-1 inhibition preserves gastric mucosal protection and platelet function. This selectivity provides effective anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects while lowering the risk of gastrointestinal adverse events compared to traditional NSAIDs.
