Turboclav Suspension (125 mg + 31.25 mg)/5 ml is an oral antibiotic formulation containing Cefuroxime Axetil and Clavulanic Acid. This combination is specially designed to provide effective antibacterial therapy in pediatric patients and in adults who have difficulty swallowing tablets. By combining a second-generation cephalosporin with a beta-lactamase inhibitor, Turboclav Suspension offers broad-spectrum activity against a wide range of bacterial pathogens, including beta-lactamase-producing strains.

Each 5 ml of reconstituted suspension contains:
Cefuroxime Axetil 125 mg
Clavulanic Acid 31.25 mg
Cephalosporin antibiotic with beta-lactamase inhibitor
Turboclav Suspension is indicated for the treatment of mild to moderate bacterial infections caused by susceptible organisms, including:
Upper and lower respiratory tract infections such as sinusitis, pharyngitis, tonsillitis, bronchitis, and pneumonia
Ear infections including otitis media
Urinary tract infections
Skin and soft tissue infections
Dental and odontogenic infections
It is particularly suitable for children due to its palatable suspension form and flexible dosing.
Cefuroxime Axetil is a prodrug that is converted into its active form, cefuroxime, after oral administration. Cefuroxime inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins, resulting in bacterial cell death.
Clavulanic Acid acts by inhibiting beta-lactamase enzymes produced by resistant bacteria, thereby protecting cefuroxime from degradation. This combination enhances the antimicrobial spectrum and improves effectiveness against resistant organisms.
The dosage of Turboclav Suspension should be determined by a healthcare professional based on the patient’s age, body weight, severity of infection, and renal function. The suspension should be taken orally, preferably after meals, to improve absorption and reduce gastrointestinal discomfort. Shake the bottle well before each use. The full course of therapy should be completed even if symptoms improve earlier.
Hypersensitivity to cefuroxime, clavulanic acid, cephalosporins, or other beta-lactam antibiotics
History of severe allergic reactions to penicillins or cephalosporins
Use with caution in patients with renal impairment
Prolonged use may lead to superinfection with non-susceptible organisms
Patients with a history of gastrointestinal disease should be monitored carefully
Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding only when clearly indicated and under medical advice
Common side effects may include:
Diarrhea, nausea, vomiting
Abdominal discomfort
Skin rash or mild allergic reactions
Rare but serious adverse effects include hypersensitivity reactions and changes in liver enzyme levels.
Before reconstitution, store in a cool, dry place below 30°C. After reconstitution, store as directed by the manufacturer and use within the recommended time period. Keep out of reach of children.
