Pharmacology

Tamsulosin Hydrochloride is a selective antagonist of α1A-adrenoreceptors located mainly in the prostate, bladder neck, and urethra. By blocking these receptors, it relaxes smooth muscle in the prostate and bladder outlet, resulting in improved urine flow and rapid relief of urinary symptoms without significantly affecting blood pressure.

Dutasteride inhibits both type 1 and type 2 isoenzymes of 5-alpha reductase, the enzyme responsible for converting testosterone into dihydrotestosterone (DHT). DHT is the primary hormone involved in prostate growth. By reducing DHT levels, dutasteride gradually shrinks the enlarged prostate, leading to sustained symptom improvement and lowering the risk of BPH progression.
