A-Flox Capsule 250 mg contains Flucloxacillin Sodium, a penicillinase-resistant antibiotic belonging to the beta-lactam group of penicillins. It is specially formulated to treat infections caused by penicillin-resistant Gram-positive bacteria, particularly Staphylococcus aureus. A-Flox Capsule is widely prescribed for a range of skin, soft tissue, bone, and respiratory tract infections where susceptible organisms are identified or strongly suspected.
Flucloxacillin is valued in clinical practice for its targeted antibacterial action and proven safety profile when used as directed. A-Flox Capsule 250 mg offers effective therapy with reliable absorption, making it suitable for both acute and moderate bacterial infections.

The use of A-Flox Capsule should be guided by clinical judgment and, where possible, bacteriological evidence.
Flucloxacillin works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis. It binds to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) within the bacterial cell wall, preventing the formation of a stable and rigid cell wall structure. This leads to bacterial cell lysis and death.
Unlike many other penicillins, Flucloxacillin is resistant to degradation by beta-lactamase enzymes produced by certain bacteria, particularly Staphylococcus species. This makes A-Flox Capsule especially effective against penicillin-resistant staphylococcal infections.

A-Flox Capsule 250 mg is usually taken orally, as prescribed by a healthcare professional. It is generally recommended to take the capsule on an empty stomach, approximately one hour before meals or two hours after meals, to enhance absorption.
The dosage and duration of treatment depend on the type and severity of the infection, as well as patient-specific factors such as age and renal function. Patients should complete the full course of therapy even if symptoms improve earlier.
Not recommended for patients with a known hypersensitivity to penicillins or beta-lactam antibiotics.
Use with caution in patients with liver impairment, as rare cases of cholestatic hepatitis have been reported.
Prolonged use may lead to superinfection with non-susceptible organisms.
Common side effects may include:
Nausea or vomiting
Diarrhea
Mild skin rash
Rare but serious adverse effects include allergic reactions, liver enzyme abnormalities, and gastrointestinal disturbances. Medical advice should be sought if severe reactions occur.
Store in a cool, dry place below 25°C. Protect from moisture and direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children.
