Paracetamol works by blocking pain signals at the peripheral level and reducing fever by acting on the hypothalamic heat-regulating center. Its analgesic and antipyretic actions are attributed to inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis in the central nervous system.
Although the exact mechanism is not fully understood, research suggests that Paracetamol:
Inhibits COX-1, COX-2, and COX-3 enzymes in the CNS
Raises the pain threshold
Produces antipyresis through vasodilation and heat dissipation
Does not provide significant peripheral anti-inflammatory effects
