Aeronid Nebuliser Suspension 1 mg/2 ml contains Budesonide, a potent inhaled corticosteroid widely used in the management of chronic inflammatory airway diseases. It is specially formulated for nebulization, making it suitable for patients who have difficulty using inhalers, including young children, elderly patients, and those with severe respiratory conditions. Aeronid helps to reduce airway inflammation, improve breathing, and prevent exacerbations when used regularly as prescribed.

Inhaled Corticosteroid
Budesonide is a synthetic corticosteroid with strong local anti-inflammatory effects in the lungs. It works by inhibiting multiple inflammatory pathways involved in airway inflammation, including suppression of inflammatory cell activation, cytokine release, and mediator production. Budesonide reduces airway edema, mucus secretion, and hyperresponsiveness, leading to improved airflow and better control of respiratory symptoms. Due to its high topical potency and rapid first-pass metabolism in the liver, systemic side effects are minimized when administered via inhalation.
Aeronid Nebuliser Suspension should be administered using a suitable nebulizer under medical supervision.
Adults and elderly:
Common dose ranges from 1 mg to 2 mg daily, administered once or divided into two doses
Children:
Dose is usually 0.5 mg to 1 mg daily, depending on age, severity of disease, and physician recommendation
The exact dose and duration of treatment should be determined by a healthcare professional based on individual patient needs.
Caution is advised when used with:
Strong CYP3A4 inhibitors such as ketoconazole and itraconazole
Other systemic corticosteroids
Immunosuppressive agents
These may increase systemic exposure to Budesonide.
Aeronid Nebuliser Suspension is contraindicated in:
Patients with hypersensitivity to Budesonide or any component of the formulation
Untreated fungal, bacterial, viral, or tubercular infections of the respiratory tract, unless appropriate therapy is initiated
Common side effects may include:
Hoarseness of voice
Throat irritation
Cough
Oral candidiasis
Rarely, systemic corticosteroid effects such as adrenal suppression, growth retardation in children, or hypersensitivity reactions may occur with prolonged high-dose use.
Rinse the mouth with water after nebulization to reduce the risk of oral fungal infections
Use with caution in patients with tuberculosis, glaucoma, osteoporosis, or immunosuppression
Gradual dose reduction is recommended when switching from oral steroids
Budesonide is considered relatively safe during pregnancy when used at the lowest effective dose. It should be used only if the potential benefit outweighs the risk. Caution is advised during breastfeeding, and medical advice should be followed.
