Baloxa Tablet 20 mg contains Baloxavir Marboxil, a novel antiviral medication used for the treatment of acute uncomplicated influenza. It is effective against both influenza A and influenza B viruses and offers the convenience of a single-dose oral regimen. Baloxa Tablet 20 mg works by inhibiting viral replication at an early stage, helping to reduce the duration and severity of flu symptoms when administered promptly.
This tablet is intended for patients who present with influenza symptoms such as fever, headache, sore throat, cough, muscle pain, and fatigue, particularly when treatment is initiated within 48 hours of symptom onset.

Baloxavir Marboxil 20 mg
Antiviral agent (influenza virus replication inhibitor)
Baloxa Tablet 20 mg is indicated for:
Treatment of acute uncomplicated influenza A and B
Use in adults and adolescents as prescribed by a physician
Early treatment of influenza to reduce symptom severity and viral shedding
Baloxavir Marboxil is a prodrug that is rapidly converted in the body to its active form, baloxavir acid. The active metabolite selectively inhibits the influenza virus cap-dependent endonuclease enzyme, which is essential for viral mRNA transcription. By blocking this enzyme, Baloxavir prevents viral replication and limits the spread of the virus within the respiratory tract.
Unlike neuraminidase inhibitors, Baloxavir targets a different step in the viral life cycle, making it effective against influenza strains that may be resistant to other antiviral agents. Its long plasma half-life allows effective treatment with a single oral dose.
Baloxa Tablet 20 mg is taken orally as a single dose or as directed by a physician.
Dosage is based on body weight and clinical guidelines
The tablet may be taken with or without food
Treatment should be started as soon as possible, ideally within 48 hours of symptom onset
Patients should avoid taking the tablet simultaneously with dairy products, calcium-fortified beverages, or mineral supplements containing calcium, magnesium, iron, or zinc, as these may reduce drug absorption.
Baloxa Tablet 20 mg is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Baloxavir Marboxil or any component of the formulation.
Baloxa Tablet 20 mg is generally well tolerated. Reported side effects may include:
Diarrhea
Nausea
Headache
Bronchitis or mild respiratory symptoms
Most adverse reactions are mild and transient.
Baloxa Tablet is not intended for the treatment of severe or complicated influenza requiring hospitalization
It should not be used as a substitute for annual influenza vaccination
Caution is advised in patients with severe renal or hepatic impairment
Overuse may contribute to the development of viral resistance
The use of Baloxa Tablet 20 mg during pregnancy should be considered only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus. It is not known whether Baloxavir is excreted in human milk; therefore, caution is advised during breastfeeding.
Store below 30°C in a dry place. Protect from light and moisture. Keep out of the reach of children.
Baloxavir Marboxil inhibits influenza virus replication by blocking the cap-dependent endonuclease enzyme, preventing viral RNA transcription and limiting viral spread in the host.
