This formulation is designed for intravaginal use only, meaning it is applied directly inside the vagina using a special applicator. It is not intended for oral, skin, or eye use.

Indications

Cleocin Vaginal Cream 2% is indicated for the treatment of:

• Bacterial vaginosis (BV)
• Vaginal infections caused by anaerobic bacteria
• Gardnerella-associated vaginitis
• Non-specific bacterial vaginitis

It helps restore normal vaginal bacterial balance and reduce symptoms such as abnormal discharge, unpleasant odor, and irritation.

How It Works

Clindamycin works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis, which stops bacteria from growing and multiplying. This helps reduce infection and allows the natural vaginal flora to recover over time.

Although applied locally, a small amount (around 5%) may be absorbed into the bloodstream, but systemic exposure is generally low.

Dosage and Administration

The usual recommended dosage is:

• One full applicator (5 grams) once daily
• Preferably applied at bedtime
• Duration: 3 to 7 consecutive days, depending on medical advice

Important usage instructions:

• Use only as directed by a physician
• Wash hands before and after use
• Lie on your back while inserting the applicator
• Avoid sexual intercourse or follow doctor’s guidance during treatment

Possible Side Effects

Cleocin Vaginal Cream is generally well tolerated, but some side effects may occur:
