Cyramza contains ramucirumab, a vascular endothelial growth factor receptor-2 (VEGFR-2) inhibitor. It is primarily used when cancer has spread or when previous treatments have failed.

It is supplied as an intravenous (IV) infusion (10 mg/ml) and must be administered under the supervision of an oncologist in a hospital or specialized clinic.

Composition

Each ml contains:

• Ramucirumab 10 mg

• 100 mg/10 ml
• 500 mg/50 ml

Mechanism of Action

Ramucirumab specifically binds to VEGFR-2 receptors on blood vessels. This prevents tumor cells from forming new blood vessels (angiogenesis), which are necessary for their growth and spread.

By cutting off the tumor’s blood supply, the drug helps:

• Slow cancer progression
• Reduce tumor growth

Indications

Cyramza Injection is used in the treatment of:

• Advanced or metastatic stomach (gastric) cancer
• Gastroesophageal junction cancer
• Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC)
• Colorectal cancer
• Hepatocellular carcinoma (liver cancer)

It may be used:

• Alone, or
• In combination with chemotherapy agents (e.g., paclitaxel, docetaxel, FOLFIRI, or erlotinib)

Dosage and Administration

• Administered as intravenous infusion only
• Dose is usually based on body weight (e.g., 8–10 mg/kg every 2 weeks depending on indication)
• Infusion must be given slowly by trained healthcare professionals
• Pre-medication may be required to prevent infusion reactions
