Cytabin Injection 500 mg/vial contains Cytarabine, a potent antimetabolite chemotherapeutic agent widely used in the treatment of hematological malignancies. It is an essential component of many standard chemotherapy regimens, especially for leukemia. Cytarabine works by inhibiting DNA synthesis in rapidly dividing cancer cells, thereby preventing their growth and multiplication.
This injectable formulation is administered in hospital settings under strict medical supervision due to its potent cytotoxic effects.

Composition
Each vial contains:
Mechanism of Action
Cytarabine is a pyrimidine nucleoside analog that is converted inside the body into its active metabolite, cytarabine triphosphate. This active form inhibits DNA polymerase, an enzyme essential for DNA replication. As a result, it blocks the synthesis of new DNA strands, leading to inhibition of cell division and eventual death of rapidly proliferating malignant cells, particularly in bone marrow and blood-forming tissues.
