Digecid Suspension is a combination antacid and antiflatulent preparation containing Magaldrate (480 mg) and Simethicone (20 mg) per 5 ml. Pharmacology

Magaldrate is a complex aluminum-magnesium hydroxide compound that acts as a potent antacid. It neutralizes excess gastric acid, thereby reducing irritation of the stomach and esophageal lining. Unlike some traditional antacids, magaldrate provides sustained acid-neutralizing capacity with minimal risk of acid rebound.

Simethicone is an inert antiflatulent agent that works by decreasing the surface tension of gas bubbles in the gastrointestinal tract. This causes smaller gas bubbles to combine into larger ones, which can be expelled more easily through belching or flatulence, resulting in relief from bloating and abdominal distension. Simethicone is not absorbed systemically and acts locally in the gut.

Indications

Digecid Suspension is indicated for the relief of symptoms associated with:

• Hyperacidity

• Acid indigestion

• Heartburn

• Gastritis

• Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)

• Peptic ulcer disease (as adjunct therapy)

• Flatulence and gas-related abdominal discomfort

• Post-meal fullness and bloating

Dosage and Administration

• Adults: 5–10 ml, 2 to 3 times daily or as directed by a physician.

• It is preferably taken after meals and at bedtime for optimal relief.

• Shake well before use.

Dosage may vary depending on the severity of symptoms and individual patient response.

Contraindications

Digecid Suspension is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to any of its components. Caution is advised in patients with severe renal impairment due to the presence of aluminum and magnesium.
