Fluconal Tablet 50 mg contains Fluconazole, a potent antifungal agent belonging to the triazole class. It is designed for the treatment and prevention of various fungal infections in adults and children. Fluconazole works by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol, an essential component of the fungal cell membrane. This disruption weakens the cell membrane, causing leakage of cellular contents and ultimately fungal cell death.
Fluconal Tablet 50 mg is widely used for treating infections caused by Candida species, Cryptococcus species, and other susceptible fungi. Its oral tablet form offers convenient dosing, excellent bioavailability, and consistent systemic absorption, making it effective for both localized and systemic fungal infections.

Vaginal candidiasis (yeast infections)
Systemic fungal infections caused by susceptible organisms
Cryptococcal meningitis
Prophylaxis in patients with immunocompromised conditions to prevent fungal infections
It should only be used when a fungal infection is confirmed or strongly suspected to prevent the development of resistance.
Inhibition of ergosterol synthesis: Fluconazole blocks the fungal cytochrome P450 enzyme 14α-demethylase, reducing ergosterol production, which is critical for maintaining fungal cell membrane integrity.
Fungistatic and fungicidal effects: The drug halts fungal growth and, in some cases, leads to fungal cell death.
Wide spectrum activity: Effective against Candida albicans, Candida glabrata, Candida tropicalis, Cryptococcus neoformans, and other susceptible fungi.
Dosage depends on the type and severity of infection, as well as patient age and health status:
