Composition

Each 5 ml of suspension contains:

• Cefuroxime Axetil 125 mg

• Clavulanic Acid 31.25 mg

Mechanism of Action

• Cefuroxime Axetil inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs), causing bacterial lysis.

• Clavulanic Acid inhibits beta-lactamase enzymes produced by resistant bacteria, preventing degradation of cefuroxime.

• The combination ensures broad-spectrum activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, including beta-lactamase–producing strains.

Indications

Furoclav Suspension is indicated for:

• Respiratory tract infections: bronchitis, pneumonia, sinusitis

• Urinary tract infections: cystitis, pyelonephritis

• Skin and soft tissue infections: cellulitis, abscesses, impetigo

• Ear, nose, and throat (ENT) infections: otitis media, pharyngitis, tonsillitis

Dosage and Administration

• Children and adults: Dose is calculated based on body weight or as prescribed by a physician

• Shake the suspension well before each use

• Administer using a measuring spoon or cup for accurate dosing

• Can be taken with or without food

• Complete the entire prescribed course, even if symptoms improve, to prevent recurrence and resistance

Precautions
