Gaviflux Suspension is an antacid and reflux suppressant formulation containing Sodium Alginate, Sodium Bicarbonate, and Calcium Carbonate. It is used for the relief of heartburn, acid reflux, and indigestion. This combination works by forming a protective barrier on top of stomach contents, preventing acid from flowing back into the esophagus.

It provides fast and long-lasting relief from acidity-related discomfort and is commonly used in gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).

Therapeutic Uses

Gaviflux Suspension is indicated for:

• Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)
• Heartburn and acid regurgitation
• Acid indigestion (dyspepsia)
• Post-meal gastric discomfort
• Sour stomach and bloating due to excess acid
• Symptomatic relief of reflux-related throat irritation

Mechanism of Action

This combination works through a dual protective and neutralizing action:

• Sodium Alginate: Forms a gel-like “raft” barrier that floats on stomach contents and prevents acid reflux into the esophagus
• Sodium Bicarbonate: Provides rapid neutralization of stomach acid
• Calcium Carbonate: Neutralizes excess gastric acid and supports sustained acid control

Together, they provide both immediate and long-lasting relief from acidity symptoms.

Dosage & Administration

• Usual dose: 10–20 ml after meals and at bedtime or as directed by physician
• Shake well before use
• Take orally using a measuring cup or spoon
• Avoid taking more than the recommended dose
• Follow physician instructions for duration of therapy

Side Effects

Gaviflux Suspension is generally well tolerated, but may cause:

• Bloating or gas formation
• Mild constipation or diarrhea
• Nausea
• Abdominal discomfort
• Rare allergic reactions

Prolonged excessive use may lead to electrolyte imbalance.

Precautions
