Glipita Tablet 50 mg contains Sitagliptin, an oral antidiabetic medicine used in the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. It helps improve blood sugar control in adults when used along with proper diet and regular physical activity. Glipita is especially beneficial for patients who do not achieve adequate glycemic control with lifestyle modification alone or with other antidiabetic agents.

DPP-4 (Dipeptidyl Peptidase-4) Inhibitor
Sitagliptin works by selectively inhibiting the enzyme dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4). This enzyme is responsible for the breakdown of incretin hormones such as GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1) and GIP (glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide). By inhibiting DPP-4, Sitagliptin increases the levels of active incretin hormones, which in turn stimulate glucose-dependent insulin release from pancreatic beta cells and reduce glucagon secretion from alpha cells. This dual action helps lower both fasting and postprandial blood glucose levels without causing significant hypoglycemia.
Glipita Tablet 50 mg is indicated for:
Management of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults
Use as monotherapy when diet and exercise alone are insufficient

The usual recommended dose of Glipita Tablet is 50 mg once daily, taken orally with or without food. Dosage adjustments may be required in patients with moderate to severe renal impairment.
