Pharmacology

Perindopril inhibits the angiotensin-converting enzyme, thereby blocking the conversion of angiotensin I to angiotensin II, a potent vasoconstrictor. This leads to vasodilation, reduction in peripheral resistance, and decreased blood pressure. It also reduces aldosterone secretion, contributing to lower sodium and water retention.

Indapamide is a thiazide-like diuretic that promotes natriuresis and diuresis by acting on the distal convoluted tubules of the kidney. It reduces plasma volume, lowers cardiac output, and decreases vascular resistance. Additionally, Indapamide has a vasodilatory effect that further aids in controlling blood pressure.

The combination of Perindopril and Indapamide provides synergistic antihypertensive effects while minimizing fluid retention associated with ACE inhibitor therapy.

Indications

Indapril Tablet 4 mg + 1.25 mg is indicated for:

• Treatment of essential hypertension in adults when monotherapy is insufficient

• Management of salt- and fluid-related hypertension

• Patients at risk of cardiovascular events where effective blood pressure control is critical

Dosage and Administration

• Adults: One tablet orally once daily, preferably in the morning
