Composition

Each ml contains:

• Tropicamide 0.8%
• Phenylephrine Hydrochloride 5%

Indications

Tropidil Plus Eye Drop is indicated for:

• Pupil dilation (mydriasis) for fundus examination
• Diagnostic ophthalmic procedures
• Cycloplegic refraction tests
• Pre-operative eye examinations
• Examination of retinal and posterior segment conditions
• Adjunct use in uveitis management (as prescribed)

Mechanism of Action

This combination works through dual mechanisms:

• Tropicamide: An anticholinergic agent that blocks muscarinic receptors in the iris sphincter muscle, causing relaxation and pupil dilation.
• Phenylephrine: An alpha-adrenergic agonist that stimulates the iris dilator muscle, enhancing and sustaining mydriasis.

Together, they provide faster, stronger, and longer-lasting pupil dilation compared to single agents.

Dosage & Administration

• Instill 1 drop in the affected eye(s) as directed by an ophthalmologist
• May be repeated based on clinical requirement
• Onset of action usually occurs within minutes
• Only to be used under medical supervision
• Avoid contamination of dropper tip

Precautions
