Indications

6% Kerasol FCL 100 ml is indicated for the treatment of common scaly and hyperkeratotic skin conditions, including:

• Chronic atopic dermatitis

• Lichen simplex

• Psoriasis

• Seborrhoeic dermatitis

• Ichthyosis

12% Kerasol FCL 100 ml is indicated for more severe hyperkeratotic conditions such as:

• Warts, including common viral warts

• Verruca (plantar warts on the soles of the feet)

• Corns and calluses caused by pressure and friction

2% Kerasol FCL 100 ml is indicated for facial skin conditions, including:

• Mild to moderate acne

• Blackheads and whiteheads

• Pimples

• Redness and swelling of the face

• Prevention of future acne breakouts

Pharmacology and Mode of Action

Kerasol FCL 100 ml contains salicylic acid, which exhibits keratolytic and keratoplastic activity depending on its concentration.

• At low concentrations, it normalizes abnormal keratinization by promoting healthy skin turnover.

• At higher concentrations, it breaks down and removes thickened, hardened skin by causing controlled peeling.

The medication works by increasing hydration within the stratum corneum and lowering skin pH, which softens and swells the cornified epithelium, leading to desquamation. Moisture is essential for optimal action. At higher concentrations, excessive use may cause irritation or damage to normal skin. Kerasol FCL also possesses weak antibacterial and antifungal properties.

Dosage and Administration

6% and 12% Kerasol FCL 100 ml

• Apply once daily to the affected area

• Hydrate the area for 5 minutes prior to application if possible

• Occlude overnight and wash off in the morning

2% Kerasol FCL 100 ml

• Apply once daily during the first week

• Increase to 2–3 times daily from the second week

• Rub gently and rinse with cool water after 3–5 minutes
