Each suppository contains:
Ketoprofen 100 mg
The suppository base is designed for smooth rectal insertion and rapid drug release for systemic absorption.
Ketoprofen works by inhibiting cyclooxygenase (COX-1 and COX-2) enzymes. These enzymes are responsible for the production of prostaglandins, chemical mediators that play a key role in pain, inflammation, and fever.
By reducing prostaglandin synthesis, Ketoprofen:
Relieves moderate to severe pain
Reduces inflammation and swelling
Lowers fever
Improves mobility and function in painful conditions
The rectal route allows the drug to bypass some gastrointestinal metabolism, making it suitable for patients with oral intolerance.
Keto-A Suppository 100 mg is indicated for:
Acute musculoskeletal pain, including sprains and strains
Postoperative pain management
Rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis
Dysmenorrhea (menstrual pain)
Fever associated with inflammatory conditions
Pain associated with trauma or injury
The dosage and frequency should be determined by a physician based on the severity of the condition and patient response. Typically, one suppository (100 mg) once or twice daily may be recommended.
