By blocking these enzymes, Levoxin prevents bacterial replication, transcription, and repair, leading to bacterial cell death. Its broad-spectrum activity makes it effective against a wide range of respiratory, urinary, and soft tissue pathogens.

Indications

Levoxin 750 mg is indicated in adults (18 years and older) for the treatment of:

• Respiratory tract infections:

  • Acute bacterial sinusitis

  • Acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis

  • Community-acquired pneumonia

  • Nosocomial pneumonia

• Skin and soft tissue infections: Uncomplicated and complicated

• Chronic bacterial prostatitis

• Urinary tract infections: Uncomplicated and complicated (mild to moderate severity)

Dosage and Administration

• Acute sinusitis: 500 mg once daily for 10–14 days

• Acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis: 250–500 mg once daily for 7–10 days

• Community-acquired pneumonia: 500 mg once or twice daily for 7–14 days

• Nosocomial pneumonia: 750 mg once daily for 7–14 days

• Skin and soft tissue infections: 500 mg once or twice daily for 7–14 days

• Chronic bacterial prostatitis: 500 mg once daily for 28 days

• Urinary tract infections: 250 mg once daily for 7–10 days; 3-day regimen may be used for uncomplicated cases

Tablets should be taken orally with a full glass of water. Adequate hydration is recommended to prevent urinary crystallization.

Contraindications

• Hypersensitivity to Levoxin, other quinolones, or any components of the formulation

• History of tendon disorders related to quinolone therapy
