Lipril Tablet 10 mg contains Lisinopril, an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor used to treat hypertension, heart failure, and certain conditions following myocardial infarction. By inhibiting the ACE enzyme, Lipril reduces the production of angiotensin II, a hormone that constricts blood vessels and stimulates aldosterone release. This leads to vasodilation, decreased blood pressure, and reduced strain on the heart.
Lipril 10 mg is widely prescribed for managing high blood pressure, either alone or in combination with other antihypertensive medications. It helps prevent complications of hypertension, such as stroke, heart attack, and kidney damage. In patients with heart failure, Lipril improves symptoms, exercise tolerance, and survival by decreasing the workload on the heart.

Angiotensin-Converting Enzyme (ACE) Inhibitor
Lipril Tablet 10 mg is indicated for:
Hypertension: to lower blood pressure and reduce the risk of cardiovascular events
Heart failure: as part of a comprehensive management plan to improve symptoms and survival
Post-myocardial infarction: to improve survival and reduce complications following a heart attack
Diabetic nephropathy: to slow the progression of kidney disease in hypertensive diabetic patients
This medication is suitable for adults, and its dose can be adjusted based on clinical response and kidney function.
Mechanism of Action:
Lisinopril inhibits the angiotensin-converting enzyme, preventing the conversion of angiotensin I to angiotensin II
Reduces vasoconstriction and lowers aldosterone secretion, leading to decreased blood volume and blood pressure
Improves cardiac output in heart failure by reducing afterload and preload
Has renal protective effects in diabetic patients by reducing intraglomerular pressure
Clinical Benefits:
Sustained reduction of systolic and diastolic blood pressure
Improved heart function in congestive heart failure
Reduced risk of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality
Slowed progression of renal disease in hypertensive patients
Adults with hypertension: 10 mg once daily initially, can be increased based on response, up to 40 mg daily in a single or divided dose
Heart failure: 5–10 mg daily initially, with gradual titration to 20–40 mg daily as tolerated
Post-myocardial infarction: 5 mg within 24 hours, then titrate as appropriate
Take with or without food, preferably at the same time each day
Dose adjustment may be necessary in patients with renal impairment
Monitor kidney function and serum potassium before and during therapy
Use with caution in patients with hypotension, aortic stenosis, or bilateral renal artery stenosis
May cause dizziness; avoid driving or operating machinery until effects are known
Avoid concomitant use with potassium-sparing diuretics or potassium supplements unless closely monitored
Common: cough, dizziness, headache, fatigue, hypotension
Gastrointestinal: nausea, diarrhea
Rare but serious: angioedema, hyperkalemia, renal dysfunction
Seek immediate medical attention for swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or difficulty breathing
History of angioedema related to ACE inhibitors
Hypersensitivity to Lisinopril or any component of the formulation
Pregnancy (particularly in the second and third trimesters)
Severe renal impairment or dialysis
Pregnancy Category D: Avoid in pregnancy due to risk of fetal harm
Not recommended during breastfeeding
Store below 30°C in a dry place, protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
