Mucosol Syrup 15 mg/5 ml contains Ambroxol Hydrochloride, a well-known mucolytic and expectorant agent used in the management of respiratory tract disorders associated with excessive or thick mucus. It helps loosen and thin bronchial secretions, making mucus easier to cough up and improving airway clearance.
This syrup formulation is especially suitable for children and adults who prefer liquid dosage forms. By facilitating effective expectoration, Mucosol Syrup helps relieve chest congestion, productive cough, and breathing discomfort, thereby supporting faster recovery in respiratory illnesses.

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
Bronchial asthma with mucus hypersecretion
Pneumonia
Bronchiectasis
Upper respiratory tract infections associated with productive cough
Mucolytic and Expectorant

Ambroxol Hydrochloride acts primarily by reducing the viscosity of mucus in the respiratory tract. It stimulates the production of less viscous secretions and enhances mucociliary clearance by increasing ciliary activity in the bronchial epithelium.
Additionally, Ambroxol promotes the synthesis and release of pulmonary surfactant, which helps prevent mucus adhesion to airway walls and supports easier breathing. Through these combined mechanisms, Mucosol Syrup improves sputum transport, relieves cough associated with mucus buildup, and enhances overall respiratory function.
Dosage should be taken as directed by a physician.
General dosing guidelines:
Adults and adolescents: 10 ml two to three times daily
Children (6–12 years): 5 ml two to three times daily
Children (2–5 years): 2.5 ml two to three times daily
The syrup may be taken with or without food. Adequate fluid intake is recommended to enhance the mucolytic effect.
Mucosol Syrup is generally safe when used with most commonly prescribed medications. It is often used alongside antibiotics, bronchodilators, and antipyretics. Ambroxol may enhance the penetration of certain antibiotics into lung tissue, which can be beneficial during respiratory infections.
Patients should inform their healthcare provider about all medicines they are taking before starting treatment.
