Nervalin 50 mg is an antiepileptic and neuropathic pain–relieving medicine widely used for the management of various chronic pain conditions and seizure disorders. It is structurally related to gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) and is effective in reducing nerve-related pain as well as controlling partial-onset seizures. Nervalin 50 mg is suitable for long-term therapy when used under proper medical supervision.

Supplemental antiepileptic medications
Nervalin 50 mg is indicated for the treatment of the following conditions:
Neuropathic pain associated with diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN)
Post-herpetic neuralgia (PHN) following shingles
Adjunctive therapy for partial-onset seizures in patients older than one month
Fibromyalgia
Neuropathic pain associated with spinal cord injury
Nervalin 50 mg is a structural analogue of the inhibitory neurotransmitter gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA). However, it does not directly bind to GABAA, GABAB, or benzodiazepine receptors. Instead, it binds with high affinity to the alpha-2-delta subunit of voltage-gated calcium channels in the central nervous system. This binding reduces calcium influx into nerve terminals, thereby decreasing the release of excitatory neurotransmitters and helping to control pain and seizures. Nervalin 50 mg has approximately 90% oral bioavailability and is primarily excreted unchanged by the kidneys, with an average elimination half-life of about 6.3 hours in patients with normal renal function.
Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy: Start with 50 mg three times daily. The dose may be increased to a maximum of 100 mg three times daily (300 mg/day) based on response and tolerability.
Post-Herpetic Neuralgia: Initial dose is 150 mg/day in divided doses, which may be increased up to 300 mg/day. In selected patients, doses up to 600 mg/day may be used.
Partial-Onset Seizures (Adjunctive Therapy): Start at 150 mg/day in divided doses and gradually increase up to a maximum of 600 mg/day if required.
Fibromyalgia: Recommended dose is 300–450 mg/day, starting from 150 mg/day.
Spinal Cord Injury–Related Neuropathic Pain: Dose range is 150–600 mg/day depending on clinical response.
Nervalin 50 mg capsules may be taken with or without food. Dose adjustments are necessary in patients with impaired renal function.

Nervalin 50 mg is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to the drug or any of its components.
Common adverse effects include dizziness, somnolence, dry mouth, peripheral edema, blurred vision, weight gain, and difficulty with concentration or attention. Increased appetite and weight gain may occur, especially in pediatric patients treated for seizures.
Nervalin 50 mg is classified as Pregnancy Category C. It should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the possible risk to the fetus. The drug may be excreted in breast milk; therefore, caution is advised when administered to nursing mothers.
Risk of angioedema and hypersensitivity reactions
May cause drowsiness or dizziness; caution is advised when driving or operating machinery
Increased risk of suicidal thoughts or behavior associated with antiepileptic drugs
Should not be discontinued abruptly; taper gradually over at least two weeks
Store below 30°C in a cool, dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
