Noscab 5% w/w Cream is a topical parasiticidal preparation used for the effective treatment of scabies and crab lice infestations (pediculosis). Scabies is a highly contagious skin condition that can spread rapidly among close contacts and family members. Therefore, when one individual is infected, it is strongly recommended that all family members or close contacts undergo treatment simultaneously to prevent reinfestation.
Noscab 5% w/w contains a pyrethroid compound that acts directly on parasites residing on the skin. It is formulated for whole-body application and is suitable for use in adults and children, following age-appropriate dosing guidelines. When applied correctly, Noscab 5% w/w Cream helps eradicate mites and lice, relieve itching, and reduce skin discomfort associated with parasitic infestations.

Noscab 5% w/w Cream is indicated for the treatment of:
Scabies caused by Sarcoptes scabiei
Crab lice infestations (pediculosis)
Parasiticidal Preparations
Noscab 5% w/w Cream contains a pyrethroid that acts on the nerve cell membranes of parasites. It disrupts sodium channel function, which is essential for maintaining normal nerve polarization. This disruption causes delayed repolarization, leading to sensory hyperexcitability, loss of coordination, paralysis, and eventual death of the parasites.
Following topical application, systemic absorption is minimal. Less than 0.5% of the applied dose is absorbed within the first 48 hours. Any absorbed drug undergoes rapid ester hydrolysis, primarily in the liver, and is converted into inactive metabolites that are excreted mainly in the urine. Presystemic metabolism also occurs in the skin, contributing to its favorable safety profile.
Recommended duration of treatment: As advised by a physician
Adults and children over 12 years: Up to one full tube
Children aged 6–12 years: Up to half a tube
Children aged 1–5 years: Up to one-quarter of a tube
Children aged 2 months to 1 year: Up to one-eighth of a tube
Children below 2 months: Dose not established
Before applying Noscab 5% w/w Cream, the skin should be clean, cool, and dry. Hot baths or showers should be avoided prior to application.
Adults and children over 2 years: Apply the cream to the entire body from the neck down, including between fingers and toes, under nails, and on the soles of the feet
Infants under 2 years: Apply to the scalp, face, neck, and ears, avoiding the areas around the eyes and mouth
Leave the cream on the skin for at least 8 hours before washing it off. Reapply to any area that is washed during the treatment period. If required, treatment may be repeated after 7 days on medical advice.
Use of topical or systemic corticosteroids for eczema-like reactions should be avoided before treatment, as suppression of the immune response may worsen scabies infestation.
Noscab 5% w/w is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to pyrethroids or any component of the formulation. Healthcare workers applying the cream regularly may use gloves to prevent skin irritation.
Possible side effects include burning, stinging, tingling sensations, redness, swelling, itching, rash, eczema, or skin irritation. These reactions are usually mild and transient.
Although systemic absorption is extremely low and available data suggest minimal fetal risk, Noscab 5% w/w is generally not recommended during pregnancy unless advised by a physician. It is not known whether the drug is excreted in human breast milk; therefore, it should not be used during lactation.
Temporary worsening of itching, redness, or swelling may occur after treatment. Avoid contact with eyes, and rinse immediately with water if accidental exposure occurs.
Store in a cool, dry place away from light. Keep out of the reach of children.
