Rofuclav Tablet 250 mg + 62.5 mg is a combination antibiotic containing Cefuroxime Axetil 250 mg (a second-generation cephalosporin) and Clavulanic Acid 62.5 mg (a beta-lactamase inhibitor). Indications

Rofuclav is indicated for the treatment of susceptible bacterial infections, including:

• Upper respiratory tract infections (sinusitis, tonsillitis, pharyngitis)

• Lower respiratory tract infections (bronchitis, pneumonia)

• Ear infections (otitis media)

• Urinary tract infections (UTIs)

• Skin and soft tissue infections

• Certain bone and joint infections

It is effective against beta-lactamase–producing bacteria that may resist cefuroxime alone.

Mechanism of Action

Cefuroxime Axetil

Cefuroxime is a broad-spectrum cephalosporin antibiotic. It works by:

• Inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis

• Causing bacterial cell death (bactericidal action)

Clavulanic Acid

Clavulanic acid:

• Inhibits beta-lactamase enzymes produced by resistant bacteria

• Protects cefuroxime from enzymatic degradation

• Expands the antibacterial spectrum

Together, they provide enhanced efficacy against resistant bacterial strains.

Dosage and Administration

• Usually taken twice daily or as prescribed by a physician.

• Take after food to improve absorption and reduce stomach upset.

• Swallow the tablet whole with water.

Complete the full prescribed course, even if symptoms improve earlier, to prevent resistance.
