Rosutin 10 mg Tablet is a statin medication primarily used to manage high cholesterol levels and reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. It contains Rosuvastatin, a potent HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor that lowers harmful cholesterol levels while supporting heart health. By reducing low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) and triglycerides and moderately increasing high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), Rosutin 10 mg helps prevent atherosclerosis, heart attacks, strokes, and other cardiovascular complications.

Rosutin 10 mg Tablet is indicated for:
Heterozygous Hypercholesterolemia (familial and non-familial)
Homozygous Hypercholesterolemia (familial)
Mixed Dyslipidemia (Fredrickson Type IIa and IIb)
Primary prevention of cardiovascular disease in patients with risk factors such as diabetes, hypertension, or a history of heart disease
Rosutin 10 mg is a selective and competitive inhibitor of HMG-CoA reductase, the enzyme responsible for converting HMG-CoA to mevalonate, a key step in cholesterol synthesis. Its lipid-lowering effect occurs through two main mechanisms:
Increased LDL receptor activity: Enhances hepatic uptake and catabolism of LDL cholesterol
Reduced VLDL synthesis: Lowers the total number of VLDL and LDL particles
This dual action effectively reduces total cholesterol, LDL-C, and triglycerides, while moderately increasing HDL-C.
Adults: 5–40 mg once daily; 40 mg is reserved for patients not achieving LDL-C goals with 20 mg
Homozygous Familial Hypercholesterolemia (HoFH): Starting dose 20 mg/day
Pediatric Use:
Heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (HeFH): 5–10 mg/day (ages 8–10), 5–20 mg/day (ages 10–17)
HoFH: 20 mg/day (ages 7–17)
Rosutin 10 mg can be taken with or without food, at any time of the day, for convenience and compliance.
Cyclosporine: Maximum recommended dose 5 mg/day
Gemfibrozil: Avoid combination; if necessary, limit dose to 10 mg/day
Lopinavir/Ritonavir or Atazanavir/Ritonavir: Limit dose to 10 mg/day
Coumarin anticoagulants: May prolong INR; monitor frequently
Other lipid-lowering therapies: Increased risk of skeletal muscle effects
Rosutin 10 mg should not be used in patients with:
Hypersensitivity to Rosuvastatin or its components
Active liver disease or unexplained persistent elevations in hepatic transaminases
Pregnancy or breastfeeding
Rosutin 10 mg is generally well tolerated. Common adverse effects may include:
Headache
Myalgia or muscle pain
Constipation
Fatigue (asthenia)
Abdominal discomfort or nausea
Muscle-related effects: Myopathy and rhabdomyolysis risk increases with high doses (40 mg), advanced age, hypothyroidism, renal impairment, or combination with certain drugs
Liver function monitoring: Liver enzymes should be checked before starting and periodically during therapy
Promptly report muscle pain or weakness to prevent serious complications
Store below 30°C, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
Safety and effectiveness in pediatric patients are not established
Adjust monitoring and dosage in patients with predisposing conditions for adverse effects.
