Active Ingredient: Telmisartan 80 mg
Angiotensin II Receptor Blocker (ARB) / Antihypertensive
Telmisartan selectively blocks the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor. Angiotensin II is a potent vasoconstrictor responsible for increasing blood pressure and stimulating aldosterone secretion, which leads to sodium and water retention. By inhibiting these effects, telmisartan causes vasodilation, reduces peripheral vascular resistance, and lowers blood pressure.
Telmisartan has a long duration of action, providing effective 24-hour blood pressure control with once-daily dosing. It does not inhibit angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE), thus avoiding side effects such as persistent cough commonly associated with ACE inhibitors.
Telma Tablet 80 mg is indicated for:
Treatment of essential hypertension
Reduction of cardiovascular risk in patients with established cardiovascular disease or at high risk of cardiovascular events
Blood pressure control in patients who are intolerant to ACE inhibitors
The usual recommended dose is 80 mg once daily, taken with or without food.
Dosage may be adjusted by a physician based on blood pressure response and patient condition.
Tablets should be swallowed whole with water.
Regular monitoring of blood pressure is advised during therapy.
