Composition

Each gram contains:

• Tobramycin 0.30%

Indications

Tobrabac Eye Ointment is indicated for:

• Bacterial conjunctivitis
• Blepharitis (eyelid infection)
• Keratitis due to susceptible bacteria
• External ocular bacterial infections
• Post-operative prevention of eye infections (as prescribed)

Mechanism of Action

Tobramycin works by binding to bacterial ribosomal subunits, inhibiting protein synthesis. This disrupts bacterial growth and leads to cell death. It is effective against a broad range of gram-negative and some gram-positive bacteria commonly responsible for eye infections.

Dosage & Administration

• Apply a small amount (approximately 1 cm ribbon) into the affected eye(s) as directed by a physician
• Usually applied 2–3 times daily, with nighttime application commonly recommended
• Wash hands before and after use
• Avoid touching the tip of the tube to the eye or any surface
• Use exactly as prescribed and complete the full course

Precautions

• For ophthalmic use only
• Not effective for viral or fungal eye infections
• Remove contact lenses before application; wait at least 15 minutes before reinsertion
• Avoid prolonged or unnecessary use
• Use cautiously in patients with aminoglycoside hypersensitivity

Side Effects

Possible side effects include:

• Temporary blurred vision
