Cefuroxime Axetil 250 mg
Clavulanic Acid 62.5 mg
Cephalosporin antibiotic with beta-lactamase inhibitor
Turboclav Tablet is indicated for the treatment of mild to moderate infections caused by susceptible organisms, including:
Respiratory tract infections (such as sinusitis, bronchitis, and pneumonia)
Ear, nose, and throat infections (including tonsillitis and otitis media)
Urinary tract infections
Skin and soft tissue infections
Bone and joint infections
Dental infections
Cefuroxime Axetil is a prodrug that is converted into cefuroxime after oral administration. Cefuroxime works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to bacterial cell death. Clavulanic Acid has minimal antibacterial activity on its own but plays a crucial role by inhibiting beta-lactamase enzymes produced by resistant bacteria. This combination protects cefuroxime from degradation and extends its spectrum of activity against beta-lactamase-producing organisms.
The dosage of Turboclav Tablet depends on the type and severity of infection, patient age, and renal function. It is usually taken orally, preferably after meals, to improve absorption and reduce gastrointestinal discomfort. The duration of therapy should be determined by a healthcare professional and must be completed as prescribed to prevent antibiotic resistance.
