Cefuroxime Axetil is an orally administered prodrug that is rapidly converted into its active form, cefuroxime, after absorption. Cefuroxime exerts its antibacterial action by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to cell lysis and death.
Clavulanic Acid acts as a beta-lactamase inhibitor, protecting cefuroxime from enzymatic degradation by resistant bacteria. This synergy expands the antimicrobial spectrum and enhances activity against organisms that would otherwise be resistant to cefuroxime alone.
The dosage of Turboclav Tablet depends on the severity and type of infection, as well as patient-specific factors such as age and renal function. The tablet is administered orally and is preferably taken after meals to enhance absorption and minimize gastrointestinal side effects. Treatment duration should follow medical advice, and patients should complete the full prescribed course to reduce the risk of resistance.
