Amoxicillin is a semi-synthetic penicillin antibiotic that exerts its bactericidal action by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis. Many bacteria, however, produce beta-lactamase enzymes that render amoxicillin ineffective. Clavulanic acid acts as a beta-lactamase inhibitor, protecting amoxicillin from enzymatic degradation and thereby extending its antibacterial spectrum. The combination ensures reliable activity against both beta-lactamase–producing and non-producing organisms.

Tyclav BID Suspension is indicated for the treatment of a wide range of bacterial infections, including:
Upper respiratory tract infections such as sinusitis, tonsillitis, pharyngitis, and otitis media
Lower respiratory tract infections including bronchitis and community-acquired pneumonia
Urinary tract infections such as cystitis
Skin and soft tissue infections including cellulitis and wound infections
Dental infections caused by susceptible organisms
The suspension is particularly suitable for children and patients who have difficulty swallowing tablets.
The dosage of Tyclav BID Suspension should be determined by a healthcare professional based on the patient’s age, body weight, severity of infection, and renal function. It is usually administered twice daily. The suspension should be taken at the start of a meal to improve absorption and minimize gastrointestinal side effects. The full course of therapy should be completed as prescribed, even if symptoms improve earlier.

Broad-spectrum antibacterial activity
Effective against beta-lactamase–producing bacteria
Convenient twice-daily dosing regimen
Palatable oral suspension suitable for pediatric use
Proven efficacy in common community-acquired infections
Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to penicillins, cephalosporins, or beta-lactam antibiotics
Use with caution in patients with hepatic impairment or a history of cholestatic jaundice associated with amoxicillin-clavulanic acid
Prolonged use may result in overgrowth of non-susceptible organisms
Dose adjustment may be required in renal impairment
Common side effects include diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, abdominal discomfort, and skin rash. Less commonly, liver enzyme elevations or allergic reactions may occur. If severe diarrhea, hypersensitivity reactions, or other serious adverse effects develop, medical advice should be sought immediately.
