Ophthalmic Decongestant
Uplid Eye Drop 0.10% is indicated for:
Temporary relief of eye redness due to minor eye irritations
Relief from redness associated with allergic conjunctivitis, eye strain, or environmental irritants
Situations requiring rapid vasoconstriction of ocular blood vessels
This product is ideal for patients experiencing cosmetic or symptomatic eye redness and those seeking a quick reduction in conjunctival hyperemia.
Oxymetazoline Hydrochloride is a selective alpha-1 adrenergic receptor agonist that induces vasoconstriction in ocular blood vessels. By narrowing the superficial conjunctival vessels, the drug reduces redness and visible irritation while maintaining normal ocular function.
Mechanism of Action:
Binds to alpha-adrenergic receptors on vascular smooth muscle in the conjunctiva
Activates vasoconstriction, decreasing blood flow to dilated vessels
Results in visible reduction of eye redness within minutes of application
Pharmacokinetics:
Primarily acts locally on ocular tissues
Systemic absorption is minimal when used as directed
Rapid onset of action with short duration, allowing for repeated applications as per recommended dosing
Instill 1 drop in the affected eye(s) up to 4 times daily, or as recommended by a physician
Wash hands before and after application
Avoid touching the tip of the dropper to the eye or any surface to prevent contamination
If using other ophthalmic medications, wait at least 5–10 minutes between applications
Do not exceed the recommended daily dose to prevent potential side effects
Important Guidelines:
Remove contact lenses prior to application; wait at least 15 minutes before reinsertion
Use the product only for temporary relief and not as a long-term solution
Discontinue use if irritation, burning, or pain persists
Hypersensitivity to Oxymetazoline Hydrochloride or any component of the formulation
Patients with narrow-angle glaucoma or uncontrolled ocular hypertension
Children under 6 years of age
Common side effects are mild and temporary:
Stinging or burning sensation on instillation
Dryness of the eyes
Temporary blurred vision
Rare: headache, increased blood pressure, or palpitations if overused
Prolonged or excessive use may cause rebound redness
Use with caution in patients with cardiovascular conditions or hypertension
Avoid simultaneous use with other ocular decongestants
Do not use if eye irritation is caused by infection, trauma, or chemical exposure without consulting a physician
Safety during pregnancy and lactation has not been established
Use only if potential benefit outweighs the risk
