Zolium 0.25 mg is a prescription medication belonging to the benzodiazepine sedatives class. It is primarily indicated for the management of anxiety disorders, short-term relief of anxiety, anxiety associated with depression, and panic disorder, with or without agoraphobia. Zolium 0.25 mg works by enhancing the activity of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), an inhibitory neurotransmitter in the central nervous system, which produces a calming effect and reduces excessive neuronal activity.

Therapeutic Class
Benzodiazepine sedatives
Pharmacology
Zolium 0.25 mg binds with high affinity to the GABA-benzodiazepine receptor complex, including BNZ1 and BNZ2 receptors. This interaction increases the effects of GABA, opening chloride channels in neurons, hyperpolarizing cell membranes, and reducing excitability. The result is anxiolytic, hypnotic, anticonvulsant, and muscle-relaxant effects, depending on the dose and patient response.
