Brimonidine is an alpha-2 adrenergic receptor agonist that decreases aqueous humor production and enhances uveoscleral outflow. Timolol is a non-selective beta-blocker that reduces the production of aqueous humor in the eye. Together, they provide a more effective reduction in intraocular pressure than either agent alone.
