Composition

Indications

Eracef Injection is indicated for the treatment of:

• Lower respiratory tract infections (pneumonia, bronchitis)
• Urinary tract infections (UTIs)
• Skin and soft tissue infections
• Intra-abdominal infections
• Septicemia (blood infections)
• Meningitis (as prescribed)
• Bone and joint infections

It is used based on susceptibility of the causative organisms.

Pharmacological Action

Ceftriaxone is a bactericidal cephalosporin antibiotic that works by:

• Inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis
• Binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs)
• Disrupting cell wall formation leading to bacterial lysis

It has a long half-life, allowing once or twice daily dosing in many infections.
