Cefuroxime Axetil: 250 mg
Clavulanic Acid: 62.5 mg
Cefuroxime Axetil is a prodrug that is converted in the body into its active form, cefuroxime. It exerts its antibacterial effect by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to bacterial cell death. Clavulanic Acid works by inhibiting beta-lactamase enzymes produced by certain bacteria, which would otherwise inactivate cefuroxime. This combination extends the antibacterial spectrum and improves efficacy against resistant strains.
Famiclav Tablet 250 mg + 62.5 mg is indicated for the treatment of infections caused by beta-lactamase-producing and susceptible bacteria, including:
Upper and lower respiratory tract infections such as sinusitis, bronchitis, tonsillitis, and pneumonia
