Proper hydration and electrolyte balance are critical in children, as they are more prone to fluid depletion during diarrhea, vomiting, fever, or inadequate nutritional intake. Kidsol DS Injection provides both hydration and energy support to aid recovery.

Each 100 ml of Kidsol DS Injection contains:
Sodium Chloride 0.45 g (0.45%)
Dextrose 5 g (5%)
Water for injection q.s.
This combination provides sodium for maintaining extracellular fluid volume and glucose for immediate energy metabolism.
Sodium Chloride (NaCl):
Maintains plasma sodium levels
Supports extracellular fluid volume and osmotic balance
Helps regulate water distribution in the body
Dextrose (Glucose):
Provides a readily available source of energy for cellular functions
Supports metabolism during periods of reduced oral intake or illness
Helps prevent hypoglycemia in pediatric patients
The combination ensures safe correction of fluid and electrolyte deficits while supplying energy to support growth and recovery.
Kidsol DS Injection 0.45% + 5% is indicated for:
Moderate dehydration due to diarrhea, vomiting, or fever
Maintenance of fluid and electrolyte balance in pediatric patients
Nutritional support when oral feeding is inadequate
Postoperative fluid replacement in children
Adjunct therapy in febrile or ill children requiring intravenous fluids
It is not intended for long-term nutrition or as the sole source of caloric intake.
Administer via intravenous infusion under medical supervision
Dosage should be individualized based on the child’s age, weight, clinical condition, and ongoing fluid or electrolyte losses
Monitor vital signs, serum electrolytes, and blood glucose during therapy
Adjust the infusion rate according to hydration status and metabolic requirements
Proper supervision ensures safe administration and prevents complications such as fluid overload or electrolyte imbalance.
Corrects dehydration effectively in pediatric patients
Provides both hydration and energy support
Maintains sodium and fluid balance
Supports recovery from illness or surgical procedures
Convenient intravenous formulation for children unable to take oral fluids
Use with caution in patients with kidney, liver, or heart disease
Monitor for signs of hypernatremia, hyponatremia, or hyperglycemia
Avoid rapid infusion to prevent fluid overload or electrolyte disturbances
Adjust therapy for children with metabolic disorders, such as diabetes or renal impairment
Kidsol DS Injection is generally well tolerated. Potential side effects may include:
Pain or irritation at the injection site
Edema or fluid overload if administered too rapidly
Electrolyte imbalance if not monitored properly
Hyperglycemia in children with impaired glucose tolerance
Seek immediate medical attention if severe reactions occur, such as difficulty breathing, swelling, or abnormal heart rhythm.
Store below 30°C in a cool, dry place. Protect from light and do not use if the solution is discolored or contains particles. Keep out of reach of children.
